Vocational and Career Education Academic Support

Students who enroll in a program offered for career credit of 450 hours or more must complete an entry-level examination within the first six weeks after admission into the program. The examination is designed to assess student mastery of basic skills and a passing score for each program impacted must be achived before EFSC can award the program's certificate.

The assessment instrument used by EFSC is Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), with the TABE 11 & 12 being used for all TABE testing and re-testing.

This preparation tips page can help students get ready for their initial TABE exam. For students who do not achieve the required score, they are eligible for remediation assistance at the the EFSC Academic Success Centers before retesting, with that remediation assistance coordinated by their program's advisor.
