Banking & Financial Specialization

The EFSC Organizational Management BAS Degree Banking and Financial Management specialization is designed to prepare students for mid-level positions at banks, credit unions, insurance agencies and other financial institutions. Following graduation, Banking and Financial Management students may pursue a variety of careers, including: commercial and retail banking, investment banking, commercial lending, risk management, corporate finance, venture capital, entrepreneurship, and other fields in the financial services area.

The admissions process follows the general bachelor's degree enrollment steps. Students are accepted into the program for the Spring, Summer and Fall terms which start in January, May and August each year. The Organizational Management common core courses required for this degree can be taken online or on campus.

Courses are taught by experts with extensive knowledge in financial services. The specialization builds on the degree's core courses which include managerial and cost accounting, economics, human resources, the legal and ethical aspects of business, management and leadership, organizational behavior, strategic management and business communications. Banking and Financial Management track students also learn about global money markets, monetary policy, the role of central banks, mortgage and lending functions, banking regulations and compliance, management and security issues, plus financial asset management. 

While the Banking and Financial Management specialization offers a 100% online option, bachelor program courses can fill quickly when registration begins before each term. To finish a program with the designated 100% online option by taking only online courses, students need to register in a timely manner to ensure they have a seat for the online course offerings of their choice. The same guidance applies to access for face-to-face courses on campus. Work with your advisor as needed when planning and be sure to check the important term dates and student email for current information about registration start dates.

This BAS program is designed for students who already hold an Associate in Science degree (A.S.), Associate in Arts degree (A.A.) or higher from a regionally accredited institution, including recent graduates and those with experience in the work force. An Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree does not meet the minimum eligibility requirement for entry into this program. AAS degree holders who intend to transfer into the BAS program should consult with an academic advisor to review coursework and determine the best transfer options.
