Air Conditioning is a fact of life in Florida: prepare for an in-demand career field

EFSC's Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration program, also known as HVAC, is designed to train students in skills necessary to obtain employment in installation, service and repair by mechanical and refrigeration contractors, dealers and related commercial businesses. The HVAC career field is in demand and training can lead to median pay that averages more than $18 an hour.

Graduates of the program follow an HVAC course curriculum that prepares them for entry-level positions and are eligible to take the EPA certification exam. Our instructors will observe the student's progress of various processes. Individualized instruction will enhance skill sets and competencies along with work habits, safety skills and clean-up procedures in the lab. And, as always, OSHA industry standards will be reinforced.

The program is available on the EFSC Cocoa campus and requires a special application process. The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration program is structured as full-time and in a cohort schedule: Monday - Thursday: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. There are three groups of clock-hour courses, each 450 clock hours in length. The program is a total of 18 months long with a program start in Fall Term.
