How to Apply for PT Assistant

Applicants for the Physical Therapist Assistant program are evaluated for admission based upon the Admission Criteria and Point System (Review this Selection Criteria). Program entry is once each academic year, starting in the Fall Term, and runs consecutively for five semesters.

Application files must be completed by May 15th each year.  All application materials must be turned in to the Health Science Admissions and Advising office on the Melbourne Campus (Building 15, Room 101).  

Please Note: Physical Therapy Assistant Applicants must be active Eastern Florida State College students. Applicants who have never attended EFSC or who have not completed a course through EFSC in over a year must submit a general admissions application to EFSC before applying to the Physical Therapist Assistant program.

A file ready for the Admissions Committee review must include:

  1. Health Sciences Application to the Physical Therapist Assistant Program
  2. All unofficial transcripts from EFSC and any other schools attended
  3. TEAS Test Scores Visit the EFSC TEAS webpage for registration instructions and information.
  4. Letter of Recommendation
  5. Health Science advisement session card
  6. Attendance at the optional Physical Therapy Panel Discussion/Open House, if applicable

Following the application deadline, files are closed to additional information and sent to the Physical Therapist Assistant Admissions Committee for consideration. Incomplete files will NOT be considered for program admission.

Top Candidates will be notified by phone and scheduled for an interview with members of the Physical Therapist Assistant Admissions Committee. Candidates are required to bring a one-page, typed essay to the interview stating why they have chosen to pursue a career as a Physical Therapist Assistant. The interview day and time will be shared in advance. Interested candidates must be available during this time or they will forfeit their seat in the program.

The applicant is responsible for providing all required information prior to the deadline date, including all photo copies.
