Transition to Associate Degree Nursing / RN Program Description

NOTE: A Spring Term 2024 Cohort has been added with an application deadline of Oct. 12, 2023. Work with a health sciences advisor as you apply to ensure you have all requirements met by the deadline. You can also apply for the Fall Term 2024 Cohort with an application deadline of May 15, 2024.

Thank you for your interest in the Transition to Associate Degree Nursing / RN degree track of Eastern Florida State College's Registered Nurse Associate in Science Degree. The Transition to Associate Degree Nursing / RN option is a 13-month hybrid program designed especially for Licensed Practical Nurses, Paramedics, and registered/certified Respiratory Therapists who carry a license in the state of Florida.

This program is geared towards those health care workers who wish to be awarded advanced standing in the Eastern Florida State College ADN program. It is a limited access program with a special application process in addition to the primary EFSC student application.

The goal of Eastern Florida State College's Nursing Institute is to provide students with an education that will prepare them to be lifelong learners, responsible community members and productive health care providers in a rapidly changing world.

The Associate Degree Nursing Program (RN), established in 1966, is designed to produce a well-rounded nurse who is able to think critically, make appropriate decisions, communicate effectively and function as a member of a health team in providing holistic care to culturally diverse clients.

Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive an A.S. Degree and will be eligible to take the national examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).
