Summer Financial Aid Information 2022

Financial aid for Summer 2022 is awarded based on the 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The last day to submit a 2021-22 FAFSA is June 30, 2022.

Application Deadlines
Bright Futures Scholarships
  • Summer funding is available for Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars and Florida Medallion Scholars only.
  • Class of 2022 high school graduates are eligible for summer funding if they are degree-seeking EFSC students.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least 6 hours to be eligible for the summer Bright Futures funding unless fewer than 6 hours are required for graduation. If a student needs fewer than 6 hours to graduate, please contact the Financial Aid Office to request an override.
High School Transcripts
  • Summer aid will not authorize or disburse until EFSC receives final, official high transcripts.
  • Class of 2022 high school graduates who register for summer may be eligible for a deferment if they have been awarded summer aid and the only outstanding disbursement requirement is the high school transcript. Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you think this situation applies to you.
Loans
  • Direct Student Loans for Summer 2022 are based on the 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and are subject to the annual loan limits for 2021-22. The last day to submit a 2021-22 FAFSA is June 30, 2022.
  • If you are not already packaged with summer loans, submit the Aid Change Request Form available after logging into myEFSC under Financial Aid Forms & Upload, then select Loan Change Request. The Financial Aid Office will determine your remaining loan eligibility for Summer 2022.
  • Students must log in to Titan Web to accept summer loans.
  • Your summer loan will be awarded as a one-term loan with two equal disbursements. Please refer to the “2nd Disbursement for Summer-Only Loans” schedule online for specific disbursement dates.
  • To receive Federal Direct loans you must complete a Master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling at studentaid.gov.
  • You must be attending at least 6 credit hours of courses required for your program of study to receive a Federal Direct Loan. If you are registered in later part of term classes, you will not receive the disbursement of your loans until you have begun attendance in at least 6 credit hours.
  • A first-time loan borrower will have a 30-day delay placed on the loan funds prior to the first disbursement of the loan.
Pell Grants
  • Pell Grants for Summer 2022 are based on the 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The last day to submit a 2021-22 FAFSA is June 30, 2022.
  • If you are registered for summer and your financial aid application has been processed, your Pell Grant eligibility will automatically be calculated for summer. Please allow 2 business days from the time of registration for your Pell Grant to be updated.
  • You do not need to complete a Summer Loan Request Form to determine eligibility for a summer Pell Grant.
  • The Pell Grant Census date is May 19, 2022. If you are enrolled for any Summer 2022 classes and EFSC has received your FAFSA as of May 19, 2022, your enrollment level for your summer Pell Grant will be determined at this time. Courses added after the Pell Census Date are not included in financial aid enrollment for the purposes of qualifying for Pell Grants. Students are encouraged to register for all classes prior to the Pell Census Date to maximize eligibility for aid.
  • Registration or FAFSA Submission after the Pell Census Date: Once a student is registered (for any part of term) and has a completed FAFSA, their enrollment level will be determined for Pell Grants. Any classes added AFTER this determination will not be included for purposes of qualifying for Pell Grants. If you initially register after May 19, 2022, you are encouraged to register for all of your classes in one registration session instead of registering over multiple days to maximize eligibility for aid. If you are changing your major, do not register until your new major is reflected in myGPS.
Year-Round Pell Grants
  • Prior to Summer 2018, Pell Grants were limited annually to the equivalent of two semesters of full-time enrollment. This meant that students who attended full-time in fall and spring could not receive Pell in the summer at EFSC.
  • Now students at EFSC may have additional eligibility for summer Pell Grants. To be eligible for these additional funds students must:
    • Enroll at least half-time (6 hours or more) for Summer 2022.
    • Meet all eligibility criteria for federal aid and have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) that qualifies for the Pell Grant.
    • Not have exceeded the 600% maximum Pell Lifetime Eligibility Used restrictions. Students are limited to the equivalent of 12 semesters of full-time Pell eligibility throughout their entire academic careers. This additional summer Pell counts towards the lifetime limit.
  • Below are examples of when students would and would not be eligible for additional Pell in Summer 2022.
